Seasonal ventilation adjustments for SHA-256 operations in uninsulated Korean warehouses during July and August heat.
Korean summers push uninsulated warehouse facilities past 35°C ambient. For SHA-256 miners rated at 0.05 TH/s and above, that external heat adds directly to board temperatures unless ventilation is adjusted seasonally.
The Math Is Simple
Most ASIC units are designed for 35°C ambient maximum. A warehouse at 38°C with inadequate exhaust puts boards at 85°C+ even with clean filters. Throttling begins. Reject rates climb. Operators blame firmware.
What Works in Our Field Experience
Inline exhaust boosters mounted on existing ducting provide the best cost-to-benefit ratio for operations under twenty units. Expect ₩120,000–₩200,000 per booster including installation.
Positive pressure from filtered intake fans reduces dust infiltration but requires sealed wall penetrations. Worth the investment for year-round operations.
Rack rotation — moving the hottest units to positions with better airflow buys time while permanent ventilation upgrades are scheduled.
Timing
Begin ventilation upgrades in May, before sustained 30°C days. Units that survive July without throttling typically run stable through September with only filter maintenance.
