Our History
Apphemlockcore Mining Review began in 2019 when two former data-center technicians in Seocho started publishing field notes on SHA-256 hardware they encountered during facility migrations. Korean operators were buying second-hand ASIC units from overseas without reliable local assessment standards. We filled that gap with documented reviews focused on units rated at 0.05 TH/s and above—the threshold where thermal management and fan maintenance become operationally significant.
By 2021 we had reviewed over forty distinct miner models and began offering on-site field assessments for small farms in the Greater Seoul area. Our reports are used by co-location hosts, individual operators, and equipment resellers who need verifiable hash rate and condition data before a purchase.
What We Do
We assess SHA-256 mining hardware the way a mechanic inspects an engine: hands on the heat sinks, eyes on the fan curves, meters on the power draw. Our reviews cover hash rate verification, thermal profiling, and maintenance roadmaps suited to units with straightforward upkeep needs—filter replacement, fan service, periodic board inspection.
We do not sell mining hardware, operate pools, or manage client wallets. Our revenue comes from assessment fees and consultation sessions, which keeps our reviews independent of manufacturer relationships.
Our Team
Soo-jin Han — Lead Field Technician. Twelve years in commercial cooling systems before specializing in ASIC thermal management. Conducts on-site assessments across Gyeonggi.
Marcus Webb — Review Editor. Former hardware journalist who structured our reporting templates and maintains the equipment catalog. Writes the majority of published field notes.
Yuna Choi — Operations Coordinator. Schedules visits, manages client correspondence, and maintains our parts reference database for commonly serviced fan and filter SKUs available in Korea.
Working Approach
We arrive on time, photograph everything, and deliver reports without jargon. If a unit is not worth repairing, we say so. If a ₩15,000 fan replacement will prevent a ₩800,000 board failure, that recommendation appears first in the report.
We value operators who maintain their own rigs and need clear guidance rather than a managed service contract. Our assessments are designed to leave you with actionable steps, not a dependency on our team.
Community
We participate in the Seoul Bitcoin Meetup hardware track and contribute thermal data to the Korean Mining Operators Association’s seasonal ventilation guidelines. Several of our field notes are cited in co-location facility onboarding materials across Incheon and Yongin.
